Overview: 

We have a new opportunity for a service oriented individual to join a busy IT department as a 1st Line Service Delivery Apprentice. 

This role is varied and no two days will be the same - from supporting users with issues and queries, working with the Shared Service Centre to deliver an excellent IT Service, or as part of a wider project team, you will be involved in many aspects and disciplines of IT across the business. 

As a great people-person, you will be talking to a range of users about a range of issues, so your communication skills will be used to great effect as you deliver solutions and resolutions in a clear, concise, business-oriented way in a timescale that meets user expectations. 
Being able to manage and plan your own working day is essential, and working with the Service Delivery Manager, you will be able to ensure you are effectively contributing to the overall delivery of the business priorities. 

Primary accountabilities: 

  • Providing 1st line support for the key business applications, including user administration, logging of issues, liaising with vendors or Senior Systems Analyst, for the core systems
  • Supporting key IT business processes including; setting up New Starters – including Inductions, Movers, Leavers and Systems User Admin
  • Service Desk Management including triage and ticket management.
  • Audit Task Ownership
  • Disaster Recovery Testing Support
  • SSC liaison
  • IT SOP maintenance
  • IT purchase orders

Top priorities / Opportunities / Challenges:

  • Develop understanding on JDR business processes for on-boarding/exiting users
  • Develop knowledge of the JDR IT Change Control, Audit and Compliance Schedules
  • Develop knowledge of user administration in the key business systems
  • Build up skills in Service Desk software, Kanbanize software, Asset Management and any other JDR IT specific software as required
  • Creation of assigned SOPs
  • Validation of assigned SOPs

  • Able to manage and prioritise their own workload, while supporting the team and wider business
  • A willingness to support the business across all functions and countries
  • Understand the impact of systems and changes in the wider user community
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic understanding of business processes
  • Experience in a busy office environment
  • Good standard of IT literacy
  • Good standard of numerical/financial literacy
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation

Personal qualities:

  • Great at communicating technical issues in non-technical language
  • Keen to build strong relationships across the business
  • Strong team ethics and a flexible approach are essential qualities for this role

Desired qualifications:

  • 5 GCSE’s, grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Salary: 

£15,000 - £17,000 per annum.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
