Warwick Independent Schools Foundation comprises two schools: King’s High with Warwick Preparatory School, and Warwick School with Warwick Junior School. The Foundation is unique in the Midlands, offering co-education for our pupils aged 3 to 7, and single-sex education from age 7 onwards. This offers the best of both worlds for our pupils: teaching specifically tailored to their needs with extensive opportunities to collaborate outside the classroom.

All of our schools are located on our beautiful 50-acre campus, 5 minutes from the centre of Warwick. The campus provides world-class facilities for our pupils, including purpose built academic facilities, sports and recreational areas. 

Overview:

A fantastic opportunity to work within the ICT team as an IT support apprentice at this prestigious school and to achieve a level 3 Infrastructure technician apprenticeship. 

The Digitally Enabled Learning Strategy will require high-quality, effective support for students and staff within each school. Students and staff need to be confident that when an issue arises it can be addressed in a timely manner and that they are kept fully informed about the progress of any resolution when an issue cannot be resolved immediately. 

Start date: As soon as possible.

Key Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Foundation IT Team Leader, the IT support apprentice will be required to provide support of the IT systems and services across the Foundation of schools.

This will include handling through to resolution First Line/Level 1 incidents and problems as well as working with other members of the IT team to help resolve 2nd Line/Service issues.

Foundation IT Team – Apprentice Technician:

Apprentice Technicians will mix a programme of study, with external providers and through in-house learning activities, with activities to support staff and students across the Foundation and general maintenance tasks designed to ensure that the technology remains effective and usable.

Responsibilities: [Working as part of the Foundation IT Team, you will provide the following:]

  • Support for the delivery of the Foundation-wide SLA across all schools and departments
  • Adherence to Foundation policies and procedures
  • An initial point of contact for staff and students requiring help with IT issues and queries
  • Proactive maintenance for IT systems and software
  • Accurate service desk information to enable the analysis of issues and effective configuration recording and management
  • Effective troubleshooting, analysis and resolution of issues, using support from the School Lead Technicians where appropriate
  • Assist in the deployment of new client device software builds as and when required;
  • Assist in the deployment of hardware devices as and when required
  • Support for activities associated with the Foundation Innovation Framework whereby staff and students may require a higher degree of support during the implementation and testing of new tools and technologies
  • Occasional support outside of normal working hours, including weekends, for specific activities

Apprenticeship and Training:

You will undertake training and exams that are required to be completed in accordance with your yearly personal development plan and level 3 apprentice program.

Desired experience:

  • Experience and knowledge of Active Directory, Exchange and Windows Server
  • Knowledge of both general ICT H&S issues relating to work, both for self and all potential users
  • Experience of working within an educational setting

  • Experience of working with people of all ages
  • Experience of training others

Desired qualifications:

  • IT qualification (such as GCSE/A Level) and experience
  • Secondary school education, with 5 GCSE passes, including Maths and English [grade C/5 or above]
  • Ability to train towards relevant IT qualifications
  • Vocational IT qualification

Safeguarding and Protection of Children and Young Persons
In accordance with the Children’s Act 1989, on appointment post holders will be required to commit to their responsibilities with regards to safeguarding. In addition offers of appointment will be subject to an Enhanced criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and other pre-starter checks as required by the regulations governing the appointment of staff within education.
The criminal record checks will highlight cautions, reprimands and final warnings as well as any convictions. The post holder must not have any spent or unspent convictions that would prevent working with children.

Salary:

£12,959 - £15,083 per annum (points 4-7)

Working hours:

37 hours per week, 8am-5pm.
