Intequal, in partnership with the Microsoft Apprenticeship Programme are currently recruiting for an energetic individual to join a fantastic workplace as an IT Technician Apprentice. This is a great opportunity to earn while you learn and gain on the job experience to kickstart your career in IT.

We are looking to recruit an IT Technician Apprentice who is a hardworking, organised individual with flexibility and a willingness to learn.

As a Microsoft Infrastructure Technician Apprentice your main roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting school-based staff and students with technical issues, troubleshooting & problem solving where required for a range of devices
  • Using necessary software to report, log and correspond to requests where applicable
  • Communicating with school-based staff to keep them updated on the progress of reported problems
  • Working with a variety of hardware/devices (including desktop PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, smart boards & projectors, etc.)
  • Completing software installations across a range of operating systems
  • Completing routine hardware/software maintenance tasks
  • Providing high levels of customer service.

    Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will receive Microsoft training and accreditation through blended learning. This combines online technical training within a virtual classroom, as well as real-world and practical experience with your employer. The certifications you gain are highly respected and globally recognised. The skills, knowledge and experience you will gain whilst on the programme are invaluable, giving you the best possible start in your professional career within the IT industry.

  • You will be highly organized with excellent communication skills.

  • You will possess sound diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • You will have a basic knowledge of a variety of Windows and Mac OS operating systems, basic Audio-Visual systems and Microsoft 365 products.
  • Experience of working in a similar role is desirable.
  • To be considered for this role, you ideally will hold a C/4 grade in both GCSE Maths & English, and in three or four other subjects at least. You should have a GCSE, BTEC or A Level in ICT or at least hands-on experience with the workings of computers and IT.

    Please note that you must not hold an existing qualification at a higher level in a similar subject (e.g. a degree).
    You will be enrolled on to the award-winning Microsoft Partner Apprenticeship Programme. You will work towards gaining skills across a variety of technical areas including MTA Cloud Fundamentals and MTA Network Fundamentals, these are globally recognised certifications, you will also gain a City and Guilds Diploma in Coding and logic and mobile and operating systems. This will also extend to business processes and project management.
  • You will have good one-to-one personal skills, particularly when communicating complex IT issues to non-technical staff and students.
  • You will be independent, with the ability to exercise good judgement when considering the need for escalating an issue.
  • You will possess a calm and friendly nature.
  • You will have a flexible approach to tasks, new ideas and change.
  • You will be professionally discreet and able to respect confidentiality.
  • You will be confident and able to use your own initiative.
  • You will have impeccable attention to detail.
  • You will possess a willingness to adapt and learn.
  • Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, you will achieve industry recognised qualifications which will give you a fantastic start to your career in the IT sector!
