Couriers collect packages, documents and messages, and deliver them to customers.
You'll need:
You'll need to have a full driving licence. You'll need a licence for the type of vehicle you'll be driving and a good driving record. Your employer may supply you with a delivery van, but if you're self-employed you'll need your own vehicle. You'll use your own motorbike if you want to work as a motorcycle courier.
Your day-to-day duties may include: c
With experience, you could become a depot controller or start your own courier business. You could also train to drive large goods vehicles (LGVs).
Warehouse managers plan and co-ordinate warehouse operations at distribution depots, retail superstores and manufacturing plants.
Forklift drivers load and unload goods in warehouses, ports and airports.
Removals workers move household and office furniture and other items from one location to another.
Airport baggage handlers load and unload luggage and cargo from aircraft.
Food packaging operatives work on production lines to put food and drink products into containers, cans or packets.
Port operatives work with cargo, passengers and marine craft in ports and harbours.
We will be offering a unique opportunity to learn within the electrical wholesale industry - which is a specialised industry supplying electricians, industry, NHS, and the homeowners alike. You will be managing stock in and out (to external clients) and picking and packing.
