We will provide you with all the hands-on experience and the skills you need to go on and complete your training at one of our depots and at our fantastic purpose-built training academy.
As the demand for electricity is set to double by 2050 our industry has some exciting challenges and important work ahead, so we’re looking for ambitious, aspiring individuals like you.

You will train to help us deliver an amazing service to our customers across the North West and help us create a brighter, more sustainable future.
It’s an opportunity to earn as you learn everything you need to know to launch your future in engineering. After three years, you’ll have completed an industry recognised Level 3 Power Network Apprenticeship and be equipped with enough experience and high-quality training to take on a permanent role with us. You will learn skills from numerous professionals from across our business.

We have apprenticeships available in the following two crafts:
Overhead line worker – You'll build, maintain and repair overhead lines on wooden poles or steel towers. You will provide a critical service that our customers in more rural areas depend on. Click here to see what a day in the life of an Overhead Lines Worker is like.
Cable jointer – You will install, maintain and repair underground electrical cables used to transmit electricity in towns and cities, connecting homes and businesses around the North West.

What’s in it for you?
A fully funded programme to study for City & Guilds level 2 qualification and a Level 3 industry recognised Power Network Apprenticeship. You will also receive full support from a mentor in the business to support you with your development.
A starting salary of £12,699.44 per year;
Holidays starting at 23 days per year plus bank holidays, rising to 26 days by the end of the programme;

Skills and qualifications
- A minimum of Maths, English and a Science GCSE at levels 4 - 9 or A* - C;
Eager and willing to work outdoors in all weathers;
Self-motivated team player with excellent attention to detail;
An interest in driving forward your own career development;
Excellent communication skills.
