We will provide you with all the hands-on experience and the skills you need to go on and complete your training at one of our depots and at our fantastic purpose-built training academy.
As the demand for electricity is set to double by 2050 our industry has some exciting challenges and important work ahead, so we’re looking for ambitious, aspiring individuals like you.

You will train to help us deliver an amazing service to our customers across the North West and help us create a brighter, more sustainable future.
It’s an exciting opportunity to earn as you learn everything you need to know to launch your future in engineering. After three years, you’ll have completed an industry recognised Level 4 Electrical Power Network Apprenticeship and a HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering .
You will be equipped with enough experience and high-quality training to take on a permanent role with us. You will learn skills from numerous professionals from across our business.

We have apprenticeships available in the following:
Design Engineer – you will learn all aspects of electrical network design and how designs meet commercial customers requirements. Working alongside our customers you will understand their needs considering innovation developments in the exciting zero-carbon future. You will be designing the networks that will underpin the electricity system for the next 50 years.
Project Engineer – you will be learning to manage the construction and installation of new projects, including our award-winning innovation projects. This will include project managing activities ensuring projects are delivered on time, meeting customers, planning of resource and staying within the budget requirements. You will learn skills from lots of professionals from across our business. You will be constructing the networks of the future that will support electricity distribution in the North West for the next 50 years.
Operations Engineer – you will be helping to keep the power flowing across our network in the North West, ensuring our 5 million customers have electricity to their homes or businesses every day. We need our future engineers to help maintain and operate all our equipment, so we can keep the lights shining, our electrical gadgets charged and utilising new technology to support our customer’s needs. We need to ensure our electricity network can manage the demand of supply for the next 50 years.

Skills and qualifications
- A minimum of Maths and English at GCSE at levels 4 - 9 or A* - C;
As well as one of the following:
- A minimum of two A Levels at grades A* - C (one must be in Maths or Physics), or
- A BTEC National Certificate Level 3 in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (merit or distinction), or a
- ONC in Electrical Engineering (merit or distinction);
We will also be looking for:
Self-motivated team players with excellent attention to detail;
An interest in driving forward your own career development;
Excellent communication skills;
- Strong analytical and IT skills.
