Description

Competition show jumping yard, within the lovely Holywell area, is looking for an apprentice groom used to working with competition horses and ponies, looking to progress in the competitive arena.

The yard requires high working standards and attention to detail. Due to the nature of the position, very good horse care experience is a requirement and you should be a competent and confident rider particularly on competiton horses.

All usual yard duties are included such as mucking and skipping out, tacking up/untacking, turning out and bringing in, feeding/watering/hay, keeping the yard tidy, field maintenance.

You will have the opportunity to travel and groom at national and international abroad shows to help widen your experience further. On site Level 3 showjumping and BHS coach for any additional training.


The candidate should be hardworking, enthusiastic and motivated to succeeding in the equine industry particularly within the showjupming environment. You will need to be a good team player, be resilient and strive to always be improving and learning. Initiative is expected to complete tasks in a timey manner without constant prompting and excellent organisation skills.

GCSE Level 4/ Grade C in Maths and English or equivalent.
Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills Maths and English if GCSE level 3>

You must love horses, be keen to learn, friendly and outgoing. You should be able to work on your own and be able to use your own initiative when required. Honesty, reliability and trustworthiness are a must, as well as working to a high standard with excellent attention to detail.
Full-time position possible upon completion of apprenticeship.
