Description of Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Chef De Partie to join our kitchen team at the Ilsington Hotel, Haytor, Dartmoor.
You will assist in creating wonderful dishes inspired by local and seasonal products too.
We are looking for a passionate staff who have a love for food and are looking to build their careers in the hospitality industry. Perched in the heart of Dartmoor the Hotels’ restaurant boasts panoramic views of Haytor Rock.
We have a small longstanding team who cater to a wide range of customers and includes fine dining. The ideal candidate will work well in a close-knit team and be a pro-active individual that is willing to learn and develop their current skills, as well as being dedicated to preparing a high standard of food.
The job role includes: •
Preparing and cooking dishes to a high standard and assisting in all sections of the kitchen as directed by the Head Chef
Maintaining high levels of service
Assisting and monitoring stock, including stock rotation
Ensuring minimum kitchen wastage
Keeping all working areas clean and tidy and ensure no cross contamination
Learning skills and recipes from other members of the department and applying them
Complying with all company policies and procedures and all statutory regulations and food hygiene policies.
Ensure that food storage areas are maintained in accordance with the company’s Food Hygiene, Healthy and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
Any other reasonable duties required by the Head Chef or General Manager The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

Relevant training and culinary qualifications
Transport is essential due to our location. We are 4 miles from A38 and Bovey Tracey/Trago Mills in a rural location.
There is no live-in accommodation with this position The hotel is based on Dartmoor and is not accessible by public transport. The successful candidate will need to have their own transport

To be experienced / qualified to at least Commis Chef level
Grades c (4) or above in maths and English is an advantage but not essential. This will be assessed at the start of the qualification
Level 2 Commis Chef
Provided by HIT Training and Head Chef on site
punctuality/attention to detail, willing to learn. It would be beneficial to have had previous experience in a similar environment and used to producing quality food. Must be passionate about food, willing to learn and a good team player.
