Eat The Bird
Description of Opportunity
As a production chef at eat the bird you will be working in every section of the kitchen, from prep to service. We make everything in the kitchen from scratch, including sauces, sides, fresh cut fries and rubs. The only thing we don’t make ourselves are the burger buns which come from a local company called Hobbs House Bakery. We have just started bottling our own sauces to sell at markets and online, so you have the opportunity to learn about mass production whilst keeping values at the forefront of production. Production Chef isn’t an easy role, you will be working in a high-turnover kitchen where a strong team rely on each other and support each other. You will have continuous training and support not only from our Head Chef, but from the rest of the team too, we will encourage you to explore your talent and push your boundaries.
Duties to include:
- Prepping raw ingredients
- Following spec sheets for recipes
- Listening to and following commands from the senior chefs
- Communicating to other team members
- Working several different sections on the line

If you do not have these qualifications our team will support you to gain these skills alongside your apprenticeship.
You will work towards achieving the following:
- Certification of Production Chef Apprenticeship standard
- Level 1 Functional Skills in English and Maths (where applicable)
Positive attitude to learning
Clean + hygienic
Good communicator – both in general but also with emotions and issues
Foodie! – we are looking for somebody who appreciates food and doesn’t eat beans on toast for dinner every night!
Eat the bird is an expanding and independent company, we have big plans for the next 2, 5, 10+ years. Opening new sites and expanding the eat the bird brand. There will always be potential for full time work, and promotions. We believe in promoting within the business rather than hiring externally. You will have the opportunity to learn everything our Head Chef does on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and learn about every single part of the business. We don’t hide anything as we believe in being transparent and working as a team. This will be your company as much as it is ours
