Description
Duties:
- Initially: Making appointments at reception and the telephone.
- Booking patients in on arrival.
- Dealing with queries and problems from patients, doctors and other health professionals, either face to face or over the telephone.
- Updating the computer records with patients’ details. Filing both electronic and manually.
- Accurate message taking for doctors and other health professionals electronic and handwritten.
Later:
- Processing requests for repeat prescriptions.
- Informing patients of the result of their recent test.
- Processing results from the lab.
- Various other administration tasks.
- Attending regular staff meetings and training courses as appropriate.
- Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the doctors, practice manager or team leader.
- This position requires excellent communication and customer service skills, together with the ability to work within a team whilst using your own initiative as required.
- Our ideal candidate has great IT skills so you are confident using standard Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook and Excel and you are happy to learn new internal computer systems and procedures.
- You also have good communication skills face to face, over the phone and by email so you are able to deal with all colleagues and patients in a polite and friendly manner.
- You have great organisational skills so you are able to prioritise your workload, stay calm under pressure, keep your workspace tidy and you are always on time for work and college.
- You have the ability to be forward thinking and work in a level headed way.

- Day 10 Presentation skills: Project review; Presentation skills; Presentation software.
- Day 11 Project presentations. Learner project presentations to employer audience. *Presentation of certificates for unit examination achievements.* Time/duration dependant on cohort group size.
