Kangaroo Pouch Harden is a brand new, 53 place nursery located on the Edgar Stammers Primary School site on Harden Road in Walsall. The setting opened in May 2017 after Kangaroo Pouch acquired the former Edgar Stammers Children’s Centre, to continue to provide a childcare service in the area for 0-5 year olds. We aim to deliver childcare that is designed to help your child develop through important formative years of their life, giving them an excellent foundation on which to build upon when they move on to school.

The nursery is laid out over one floor, consisting of 4 spacious rooms in which your children will learn through play. Our rooms are colourful and welcoming, and contain age-appropriate state-of-the-art resources, creating a stimulating environment designed to develop imagination and independence. We also have a wonderful garden area, for children to learn and explore outdoors.

The staff at Kangaroo Pouch Harden have vast experience in the childcare sector. This means you child will receive the highest quality early years care and education. Our staff are constantly improving their knowledge through training and follow our Pouch Values, in their daily work. This ensures that children receive a happy and rewarding nursery experience.

Detailed Job Description

The main duty within this role is to promote the physical, social and emotional development of each child within your remit and contribute towards their care and supervision.

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Meeting and greeting parents and children at the nursery
  • Making sure all children are safe and treated equally
  • Participating in activities with the children eg reading, numeracy, literacy activities
  • Communicate with parents/families to help to encourage the child
  • To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times
  • Assisting at snack and mealtimes
  • Outdoor play

Qualifications required

  • No formal qualifications are required for this role, although 3 – 9 A/D grade GCSE’s in maths and English (or equivalents) would be a distinct advantage

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Kangaroo Pouch will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day

  • Functional skills if required
