Detailed Job Description

The main duty within this role is to promote the physical, social, and emotional development of each child within your remit and contribute towards their care and supervision.

Duties to include:

  • Supervising children during play time
  • Engaging children in learning and pay activities
  • Keeping and updating records
  • Working with team members to ensure health and safety standards are met
  • Maintaining a high standard of operation
  • Attending staff meetings
  • Assisting with changing nappies
  • Assisting with lunchtimes and snacktimes
  • Assisting with playtimes
  • Learning how to undertake observations of children
  • Learning how to report learning an development of children

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

  • No formal qualifications are required for this role, although 3 – 9 grade GCSE’s in maths and English would be a distinct advantage
  • Previous work experience would be a distinct advantage

Skills required

  • Some experience working with and engaging with children
  • The ability to stay professional at all times
  • Team working skills
  • Communication and listening skills
  • The ability to be flexible and understanding
  • Being positive and possessing a good sense of humour

Personal Qualities

  • A willingness and passion to work within this sector

Training provided

  • Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Lynton Childcare will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
  • If successful, you will complete an Intermediate Children and Young People's Workforce apprenticeship programme delivered through Lynton Childcare dedicated training provider, Interserve Learning & Employment.
  • Functional Skills in maths and English if required
