Detailed Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, driven and passionate individual to develop key skills which will lead to a rewarding and varied career. The role of an Apprentice Receptionist/Administrator will consist of:

  • Greeting of guests at the office and making sure they are provided with beverages.
  • Answering the telephone and putting calls through to the relevant person.
  • Check voicemails/ Log Telephone messages.
  • Make and receive phone calls for senior staff.
  • Other general administrative duties as the business requires, including franking of post and ensuring supplies for the office are available.
  • General office maintenance.
  • Banking.
  • Fulfilling typing up of meeting minutes and other notes provided via digital dictation.
  • Updating of spreadsheets and databases, requiring the ability to use excel.
  • Arrange office recycling & confidential shredding.
  • Archiving – boxing up files and recording via Excel spreadsheet.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

GCSE English and Maths at grade D or above or equivalent is preferred although candidates will be assessed at interview and on entry onto the programme.

Skills required

  • The candidate will need to be confident and well presented
  • Ability to use Word & Excel
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential to this role
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills

  • Enthusiastic
  • Dedicated with a helpful attitude
  • Reception is the front line of the business so the ability to engage with customers is important
  • work well within a small team environment

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress within the company, with a potential of progressing to an advanced level and permanent position.

Additional Information

Training provided

Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration plus Functional Skills and Technical Certificate if appropriate.

This apprenticeship is delivered through work based learning, this means that all training is done at the workplace eliminating the need to attend college. The successful candidate will be allocated an assessor who will visit on site every 4-6 weeks and deliver all of the training to gain the qualification and provide the resources to complete work between visits.

Although this position is hard work it offers opportunities for reward and progression, together with a varied role which may lead to permanent employment. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
