Description

Fantastic opportunity for an apprentice to join a family run showjumping yard with 18 horses based in Stoke on Trent. Successful candidate will be able to use own initiative when working independently and will have a passion for horse care and show jumping.

General yard duties such as:

-Mucking out

-Filling haynets

Making feeds

-Turning out/bringing in

-Cleaning tack

-Tacking up

-Clipping/plaiting/trimming/pulling/bathing

-Rug changing

-Paddock maintenance

-Riding available depending on ability

-First aid

-Exercising horses from the ground

-Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

Some previous experience with horses. Candidates must be confident handling fit competition horses, youngsters and stallions.
Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English
Full training through the Equine Apprenticeship supported by Haddon Training.
Keen, hardworking, good sense of humour, willing to work outside in all weathers, punctual and reliable.
Possibility to progress onto a Level 3 Diploma, or a permanent position.
No accommodation, it may be possible to take your own horse.
