Description

The apprentice will report to the Despatch Supervisor and Warehouse Manager who have gained more responsibility during their time with the company. You will be processing and despatching orders for customers in a fast moving environment. The warehouse area is kept clean, tidy and safe by all of the team working together.

We have a team of 6 in the warehouse despatch department, 4 in production and 2 in stock control. The apprentice will have the opportunity to work in all areas.

These warehouse tasks are essential to the smooth running of the business:

* Processing orders accurately.

* Logging in information onto a computer programmeWorking in a tidy a safe way.

* Cleaning up through the day.

* Offering ideas to improve our service.

* Talking to the sales team to check details and manage mistakes.

* Over time as your confidence and knowledge grows you will develop and learn new skills

* Learning about our products

* Helping with stock management

* Developing your communication skills

Many of the staff at WISKA started out as apprentices, some joined the company at 16 and others when they were a bit older. They are very supportive and welcoming to new team members. We also enjoy social events and activities. This role has been advertised to grow the team. The role has been advertised to grow the team.

Depending on age there may be travel opportunities with experienced staff in the future. The job involves a lot of walking around the warehouse with trolleys to help move stock The majority of the stock is on the ground floor, some stock, the kitchen and some offices are situated on the first floor.

What is involved?

  • Attendance to college for a one-day induction
  • Typically up to three days college attendance for each Functional Skill (if required)
  • 12 days college attendance

The Certificate in Warehousing and Storage involves building and maintaining a work-based evidenced portfolio. Assignments will also be completed. An assessor will visit the apprentice in the workplace to support the apprentice and maintain an effective relationship between the employer, the apprentice and the college.

Monday to Thursday 8.30am-5pm, Friday 8.30am to 4pm; Saturday when needed (8am – 12 noon)
