Detailed Job Description

The successful candidate will be working alongside a BHSAI instructor with a wealth of knowledge on a 1:1 basis. Preferable if the candidate can drive as yard is not on any bus routes.

General yard duties will include;

  • Mucking out
  • Bedding up/down
  • Tacking up and un-tacking
  • Tack cleaning
  • Exercising horses
  • Bringing in and turning out
  • Feeding, hay and water
  • Assisting with coaching
  • Potential for rising for right candidate

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English

Skills required

Experience with horses is essential. Please note that candidates with no experience will not be considered for this position.

Personal Qualities

Successful candidate will be;

  • Keen and enthusiastic
  • Hardworking with a positive attitude
  • Interested in livery, tuition and competitions
  • Willing to work outside in all weather

Future prospects

Possibility of Level 3 Horse Care Apprenticeship on completion of Level 2
