Description

We are a small, busy training and livery yard based on the Dorset/Somerset border, specialising in high quality dressage and sports horses.

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic person to join our friendly team as part of our apprenticeship scheme run through Haddon Training.

This position offers many exciting opportunities to observe and take part in everything a high class training and competition yard has to offer.The successful candidate will be guided through their qualifications by our knowledgeable staff. Some riding may be included, dependent upon ability and experience.

Alongside the usual daily yard duties, you will be trained to maintain the high standard of grooming, care and competition turnout that we pride ourselves upon.

These are essential skills for someone wanting to make their way to the top in the equestrian world.

General yard duties such as:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Paddock maintenance
  • Riding/Schooling, level dependent upon experience
  • Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, pessoa training, pole work etc.)
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

Some previous experience with horses is essential.
Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English
Full training through the Equine Apprenticeship supported by Haddon Training.
Keen, hardworking, punctual, reliable, calm and confident handling horses.
Full time position on completion of diploma.
Not a live in position, and no space for your own horse.
