Description

A young and fun National Hunt and Racing yard with excellent accommodation located in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. In their stunning Cotswolds location and with top class facilities, we’re confident that they can offer first class training to ensure the horses are trained in a safe, relaxed and professional environment using training methods which unite orthodox procedures with an individual approach that generates the best possible performances from the horses.

General groom duties will include;

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out and bringing in
  • Tacking up and tack cleaning
  • Feeding, filling hay nets
  • Plaiting
  • Bathing and rug changing
  • Riding available
  • Riding out on gallops dependent on capability
  • Possibility of hunting dependent on capability
  • Exercising horses from the ground, including lunging, horse walker, long reining and pessoa training
  • Holding for vet, farrier and dentist
  • Handling fit, competition horses

Experience with horses is essential. Please note that candidates with no experience will not be considered for this apprenticeship.
Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English
Full training provided through the Equine Apprenticeship supported by Haddon Training

Successful candidate will be:

  • Passionate about joining the racing industry
  • Confident handling fit competition horses
  • Familiar with the racing criteria e.g. weight restrictions
  • Confident riding out on gallops
Possibility of Level 3 Racehorse Care Apprenticeship on completion of Level 2
Double Bedroom in a shared hostel with Sky TV and Wifi and local livery is a possibility
