The Lincoln Eastern Bypass project commenced construction activities in April 2017 and is due to complete in December 2019, therefore the successful candidates have the opportunity to see a project progress from early stages right through to completion.
Our Apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to train primarily as a Civil Engineering Technician but with the option to progress into Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Buying, Planning or Estimating. We will tailor the qualification and site placement to your option. As a Civil Engineering Technician Apprentice what can I expect to be doing?
You will be project based near Lincoln and be provided with the opportunity to work within various departments. Your apprenticeship is predominantly hands on, where you will gain experience of working on live construction projects. You will receive on-going training and support to enable you to play an important role in our site team.
Whilst working on the project you will be assigned a mentor who is an existing Site Engineer with a wealth of experience and knowledge to learn from. You will also have exposure to various aspects of the project such as earthworks movement and construction of a new rail interface as well as working alongside specialist sub-contractors.

What is Civil Engineering?
Civil Engineering is part of the construction industry; it is the design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure. Infrastructure is works like roads, bridges, tunnels, railways, runways and coastal walls.
Civil Engineering is not the construction of houses or commercial buildings such as schools, hospitals, or shopping centres.

Civil Engineers are construction professionals who make up site supervisory and management teams with most Civil Engineers working predominantly outdoors.
Civil Engineers turn plans into reality and are responsible for ensuring that projects are completed to a high quality and within the given time frame. Civil Engineers play an important role in managing health and safety on sites, as well looking after the environment.
