Finance Assistant – Enterprises (incorporating Level 3 Apprenticeship) - 18 month fixed-term

At the National Theatre you will be working as part of a team in the heart of the South Bank in London and you will undertake a variety of duties to prepare accounting records for our internal customers. You will help support the accounts function within the Commercial Finance division (Enterprises) through the development and processing of accurate reports and account management. You will undertake tasks such as sorting business transactions, completing bank reconciliations and using accounting software packages. You will receive full training for all tasks as well as full support from the management team. This is an apprenticeship role, so you will be studying for a Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship with the learning provider Kaplan, as well as learning on the job.

Detailed Job Description

Your job while working and learning at the NT:

• To process purchase invoices onto Proactis system;

• Setting up New Supplier forms for Proactis, My Inventory etc;

• To assist with the database of the Point of Sale Systems (currently Micros Fidelio, Book solve) for example: setting up new employees, creating menu items, price changes and linking to the stock system;

• To assist with matters relating to Point of Sale such as trouble-shooting, escalating, following up and review periodically with Management;

• To assist with hardware Point of Sale location moves;

• To assist with the maintenance of the Icare system (staff meal cards) including: building and maintaining the database and preparing weekly reports for the Senior Management Accountant to review:

• To perform aspects of bookkeeping including purchase invoices input in Micros, Proactis the preparation of accruals and credit control:

• To monitor Invoices for the Bookshop that have been processed on BookSolve and preparing them for processing:

• To provide various reports and management information on Point of Sale transactions, sales mix, stock holding and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

• To collect and distribute trading area floats from the Central Cash Office, whilst adhering to the Commercial Operations Cash Handling policy.

Qualifications required

Have 3 GCSEs at A-C including Maths and English

· A desire to make a career in Accounting and progress in this field. · A desire and commitment to study and attend classes towards the AAT Level 3 qualification. · Be curious about the world, and keen to learn new things. · Be able to work well within a team

Future prospects

This is an 18 month fixed term contract. At the end performance will be reviewed alongside the business need for a permanent Finance Assistant. Should there be a permanent job available the post holder would be invited to apply.

Additional Information

Training provided

We will support you to obtain your AAT Level three qualification under the Trailblazer standards.This training will be provided in accordance with our training provider (Kaplan Financial). The training could be delivered on a day-release basis, evening, weekend or via the Live Online route.

It must be noted that in times of month end, work and system installation, additional hours and weekend work would be required from time to time, and therefore a degree of flexibility regarding normal work patterns is expected.We also expect you to undertake some personal private study in order to complete your coursework.
