Detailed Job Description

Why an Apprenticeship in Xerox?

Xerox has partnered with the National Apprenticeship Service and Estio Training to provide a structured Apprenticeship Programme. Apprentices will be mentored in a Customer Service Engineer role and receive on and off the job training to enable them to achieve a professional qualification.

The Apprenticeship Programme aims to provide the building blocks for future development in specialist or management roles within the Company and we have a proven track record of doing so!The Programme.

We are looking for 8 Apprentices to join us in September 2017. From day one of the Programme you will be performing a real job role within the Company.

You will be working in our Technical Service team and whilst based from one of our offices you will increasingly work in the field providing great service to our customers!

This means you will have the opportunity to contribute from the beginning of your Xerox career, as you will be placed at the sharp end of our organisation, with exposure to a core part of the Xerox business.

As part of the scheme you may undertake job rotations to other service teams. This will broaden business knowledge and place Apprentices in an ideal position to progress into an entry level management or specialist roles in their future career. Of course, you will have all the support you need to succeed with a network of mentors within the business throughout the three years.

This will all be supplemented by the professional qualifications delivered by our Training Provider, Estio Training. You will be required to travel to their training location, which will be fully expensed including overnight accommodation as required.

In blending your on-the-job training with a block release programme of study at Estio’s training centre, you will be able to achieve a Level 3 qualification in IT in the first 18 months, potentially moving towards completing a Level 4 qualification in the same discipline by the end of the year three.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

  • Entry requirements are a minimum of 2 A-Levels and 5 GCSEs grades A*- C or equivalent qualifications (including English and Maths)
  • Full clean driving licence is required

Skills required

  • Be able to work independently using your own initiative, whilst also possessing a strong teamwork ethic.
  • As a Xerox Engineer attending Customer Sites you will be required to undergo full Government Security Screening and Financial Credit Checks.

Personal Qualities

  • Be an energetic and motivated self-starter, with an enthusiastic ‘can do’ attitude
  • Be resilient and determined when faced with obstacles and setbacks
  • Be flexible and have a willingness to learn

Future prospects

We also offer a competitive starting salary which grows regularly as long as you meet the targets set, there is a Company Car provided once the apprentice is signed off for lone working and of course all the benefits you would expect from a large blue chip company.

Additional Information

Training provided

The Estio Training programme gives young people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.

Learners will receive ten weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

This apprenticeships will give you a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Standard with training in areas such as:

  • Functional skills, Maths L2 and English L2
  • PC Fundamentals and & Customer Service Skills
  • Business Processes & Network Fundamentals
  • Mobile & Operation Systems Microsoft MTA
  • Mobility & Device Fundamentals
  • Cloud Services - with MTA
  • Coding & Logic
  • ERR
  • Networking and Architecture (Including a CompTIA A+ certfication)

Some of these modules will include an option to take an examination in order to receive a professional certificate.
