Bishop and Young Ltd are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Trainee Chef to work alongside our two professional chefs at The Blue Ball Inn-a country pub in Triscombe . We are looking for someone who is passionate about training to be a chef and who will want to take the lead in the kitchen when given the opportunity. We work with local suppliers to produce a menu that are not only fresh but different to our local competitors. The Team are young and vibrant and will welcome someone with the same passion as they have.Your duties will include;•Preparing and finishing classic sauces•Cooking with our ‘Josper’ oven•Make homemade ice cream and puddings•Knife skills, preparation of veg & fruit•Meat & fish preparation and cooking to include roasting, frying grilling etc.•Ensure procedures and schedules are followed •Maintain clean and sanitized food preparation/storage areas •Ensure that any equipment is clean and maintained •Ensure the smooth running of the kitchen during service•Be aware of and follow emergency, safety and first aid procedures.As an Apprentice you will be included on a Professional Cookery NVQ level 2. Your Qualification will be delivered by an Award Winning Training Provider who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve a Vocational Learning Advisor coming to visit you on a regular basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.
Previous cooking skills would be an advantage but full training will be given.
Must be:• On time and reliable• Wanting to develop a career within Catering or Hospitality• Hungry to learn and develop new skills• Willing to work a variety of shifts• Able to follow instructions• Able to work under pressure
We are looking for someone who has a passion and flair for great food! You must be a team player with a can do attitude, strong communication skills and good work ethic.
The successful candidate will hold a Professional Cookery qualification at the end of the programme. There is also potential for this to be a permanent position for the right candidate.
Aside from the practical experience gained, you will also work towards a nationally recognised qualification. This is a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Food production and Cooking!
