This is an exciting opportunity to work as an Apprentice Support Worker for Ordinary Living Ltd.Role Highlights• Adhering to the rules, requirements and policies as in the staff hand book.• Contributing to the formulation of support plans and risk assessments for individual tenants, where appropriate.• Participating in regular reviews of individual tenants, where appropriate.• Ensuring that a report is made to the Manager or Senior staff member of any significant incident affecting tenant support.• Assisting tenants to maintain their independence and dignity by offering appropriate levels of practical assistance to enable their basic emotional and physical needs to be met within the home and the community.• Enabling those tenants who wish to achieve greater independence to develop their basic self-care skills in the home and the community.• Making the friends and relatives of tenants welcome at the home and ensuring that they have adequate privacy for a meeting.• Administering medication, under supervision, where appropriate, and recording correctly.• Implementing the philosophy of the home in a way that reflects the needs of the currenttenant group, based on respect for the individual’s right to self-determination. To have a caring nature, to be a good listener and very understanding of others, to be a team player with good communication skills.
No specific qualifications required as full training is to be provided. However basic Maths and English skills are desirable.
As an Apprentice you will be included on a Health & Social Care Qualification, this will involve a Vocational Learning Advisor who will visit you on a regular basis, to deliver the training and coach the Apprentice and will be observing whilst you work.
You need to be a confident, caring person who has a genuine interest in caring for others. You will need to be patient, able to give residents the support they need, open minded, good communicator.
If the Apprenticeship is successfully completed there may be an opportunity for permanent employment.
