Description
You Will working alongside Commis, CDPs and a Head Chef in a team of approximately 6, including KPs. The George is a medieval coach house hotel, with strong local history, there is also strong afternoon tea volumes. A great opportunity to learn and develop skills, We work with local suppliers to produce a menu that are not only fresh but different to our local competitors. The Team are young and vibrant and will welcome someone with the same passion as they have. We are looking for someone who is passionate about training to be a chef and who will want to take the lead in the kitchen when given the opportunity. Role Highlights• Preparing and cooking menu to a high standard as per company specification• Monitoring and sorting of stock • Be able to read recipes and be able to prepare & cook the dishes as specified in the recipe• Ensure no foodstuff is unnecessarily wasted• Comply with hygiene and health and safety standards• Have a high standard of work practise and hygieneApprenticeship Highlights• You will gain a nationally recognised qualification in Food Production and Cooking at Level 2. Food safety awareness, food preparation, cooking, presentation and Kitchen hygiene. Must demonstrate enthusiasm for high quality food, care for presentation and strong team work. Flexible to shift times and hours due to nature of hotel and kitchen.
Food/Catering experience preferred
Aside from the practical experience gained, you will also work towards a nationally recognised qualification. This is a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Food production and Cooking!

Commis chef may lead to CDP role and in future Sous and career within kitchen management, either at The George or fellow hotels, in East Anglia and Surrey.
