We are looking for a Financial & Commercial apprentice to join our busy team and help out with day to day accounting duties while learning the fundamentals of working in an accounts department.

Detailed Job Description

The successful applicant will join our Financial & Commercial department and aid in the day to day running of the company. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who wants to develop a wide range of skills and develop a great understanding of how a business functions.

Key Duties will include:

  • Order Processing - Processing purchase orders to various suppliers and being able to contact & send orders to suppliers.
  • Processing Invoices - Processing purchase ledger invoices, this will involve matching invoices to orders & delivery notes and then entering them onto our accounting software.
  • Updating Supplier Databases & various other spreadsheets - This will involve updating information on various excel spreadsheets on a daily basis.
  • Answering Phones - To be part of our phone rota which will involve answering external calls and taking messages.

The above list is not an exhaustive list of all the duties that will be required but should give a feel for the kind of day to day tasks that will need completion, training will be given on all task and the successful candidate will not be left to do any task until both ourselves & the candidate are confident that the task can be completed successfully.

The successful candidate will report to both the Finance Assistant & Management Accountant at EDME Ltd.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

A minimum of C Grades in both GCSE English & Maths.

Skills required

Good maths & problem solving skills, as well as good skills on Microsoft Excel.

Personal Qualities

Someone who is ambitious, responsible and with a keen eye for detail.

Future prospects

Potential progression into a more senior accounting or commercial role.

Additional Information

Training provided

Weekday classes at First Intuition Chelmsford to gain AAT Level 3 qualification.

This role will involve the candidate spending most of their day in the office at your desk using a PC. We do feel that this is a varied job role however and you would not spend the entire day only doing one task. Our office is based around 20 minutes from Colchester & 20 minutes from Ipswich.
