Detailed Job Description

Administration Support

  • Provide administrative support for all areas of the support function of the practice where required
  • Assist with updating and ensuring that all the practice polices and protocols stores on the intranet (Intradoc) are monitored and kept up to date
  • General Admin support as required.
  • Assist in the administrative process for receiving and providing medical and insurance reports.
  • Deal with Travel Questionnaires received by the practice in a timely manner
  • Assist with the required administration for immunisations and smears so it is dealt with within the required timescales.


  • Ensure an effective reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice
  • Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
  • Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery
  • Assist in all administration related to the work of the reception team
  • Ensure that the ‘waiting room’ is kept tidy (in turn with other staff) Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately as necessary

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

Ideally applicants should have at least a GCSE Grade ‘C’ or above, in English, Maths and I.T.

Driving Licence preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to think and plan ahead using own initiative.
  • Able to work to deadlines, sometimes under pressure.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Flexibility in working hours as required.
  • Good sense of humour.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team.
  • Pleasant and articulate.
  • Ability to use own judgement.
