Description

Job Title – Apprentice Administration Assistant

Reporting to – Business Support Team Leader/Part Time Courses Manager

Purpose of job – to provide administrative support to the teams at Penwith including Part Time Courses and Reception

Main activities, duties and responsibilities -

To operate the College’s computerised management information system in order to undertake the appropriate administrative functions.

To perform various duties associated with the College’s administrative functions. These may include filing, photocopying, student enrolment, receipting payments and associated cash handling.

To give information and advice in response to customer enquiries on the telephone and in person.

To receive visitors to the College and deal with initial enquiries from members of the public, students and staff.

To assist in the development of the range of course information material available to customers.

To input data into the College Management Information System.

To produce standard reports from the system.

As a member of staff the post holder will be required to further the agreed aims of the College by participating fully in the following:

  • To participate in the scheme for appraisal and review of performance adopted by the College.
  • The first six months of your employment will be a probationary period, during which your suitability for the position to which you have been appointed will be assessed.

  • Keyboard skills including MS Office suite of applications

Out of work commitment required:

  • 1 day induction
  • 3 days for Functional Skills Maths (exempt if have proof of previous level 2).
  • 3 days for Functional Skills English (exempt if have proof of previous level 2).
  • 3 days for Functional Skills ICT (exempt if have proof of previous level 2).
  • 11 days for Business Administration Programme (09:00 – 16:00).

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, possibility of a full time job role.
Holidays: 20 days + Bank Holidays Pension: All eligible employees are admitted to the Local Government Pension Fund (LGPS). You have the option to opt out of the scheme should you wish to.
