Exciting opportunity to work at Selwood Academy as an Site Technician ApprenticeWith full training and general supervision by the Site Team and Direct Line Management by the Finance & Premises Manager your tasks will include but not be restricted to :•Maintain the security of the premises by opening and closing gates, repairing doors, latches and fences, to maintain a safe environment.•Undertake daily and periodic cleaning of designated areas as directed to cover for any absence of the cleaner i.e. dusting, vacuuming, cleaning toilets, emptying bins, etc., to ensure a tidy environment is maintained.•Ensure outside areas are kept free from litter, sweeping leaves, emptying bins, etc. to maintain a clean and tidy environment.•Undertake daily and seasonal maintenance of the site and equipment, inside and out, including changing light bulbs, taps, clock batteries, door locks, woodwork, decorating, clearing drains and toilets to ensure a safe environment is maintained.•Support the Site Team in facilities management by completing required periodic checks and associated record keeping.•Attend training as required and assist in the training of other premises support staff as directed.•Comply with Health & Safety, Fire Regulations and other School policies.Be committed to safeguarding children and young people•Receive deliveries and arrange for internal distribution.•Ensure efficient operation of the schools services, conduct routine repairs and maintenance, and arrange for contractors to conduct maintenance of a more involved nature, liaise with F&P Manager with regards major repair/maintenance requirements. • Wash and clean the minibus on a weekly basis.• Ensure litterbins are emptied and waste disposed of in the appropriate manner, footpaths are cleared eg snow, leaves etc• Carry out various errands for school business e.g. post-office, collection of furniture/equipment, petrol station, banking, local school deliveries etc.• Ensure that satisfactory levels of caretaking, cleanliness and hygiene are achieved and maintained through the whole of the premises• Ensure that pathways and all other external hard surface areas are kept clean, free of litter and weeds and that they are gritted or salted when required during wintry conditions• Promote and ensure the health and safety of pupils, staff & visitors (in a accordance with appropriate health & safety legislation) at all times• Wash and clean the minibus on a weekly basis.• Ensure litterbins are emptied and waste disposed of in the appropriate manner, footpaths are cleared eg snow, leaves etc• Carry out various errands for school business e.g. post-office, collection of furniture/equipment, petrol station, banking, local school deliveries etc.• Ensure that satisfactory levels of caretaking, cleanliness and hygiene are achieved and maintained through the whole of the premises• Ensure that pathways and all other external hard surface areas are kept clean, free of litter and weeds and that they are gritted or salted when required during wintry conditions• Promote and ensure the health and safety of pupils, staff & visitors (in a accordance with appropriate health & safety legislation) at all times• Assist with Risk Management e.g COSHH, monitoring of water temperatures monthly for legionella risk, ladder checks etc.To carry out other duties as set out by the Finance & Premises Manager that is commensurate with the current pay and grade.
