Detailed Job Description

The Certificate in Administration (Business Professional) is designed to give you the skills and qualifications needed to work in an office. All organisations need administrators so these skills can lead to employment in a range of organisations.

The Business administration apprenticeship will give individuals the opportunity to start within the company at a level which will allow development into the different functions which require administration support. These departments could include Sales, Marketing, Service centre, Finance, Legal, Communications and Human Resources.

The Business Administration course will help you learn how to produce documents such as letters and reports using Microsoft Office and how to schedule meetings and manage appointments using diaries. You will also cover the details of handling financial transactions and managing data, including the relevant legislation around data protection.

If you have yet to achieve a grade C or above in GCSE English/Maths you will have the opportunity to retake this during the course.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

4 GCSEs grades A* - D or acceptable alternatives. Must include English Language, preferably at grade C or above to cope with the demands of the course.

Future prospects

It is possible to apply for the full time Level 3 Administration Course, Legal Administration Course at Level 3 or an apprenticeship in Business & Administration which involves working towards an NVQ certificate in Business & Administration at Level 2. This means working in a job for 4 days a week and attending college for one day a week. The apprenticeship programme offers a range of benefits and progression opportunities to help you make the right start in your working life. We have employers which offer a competitive package that recognises your contribution to the business you work for and supports your professional development.
