An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Accounts Assistant at Newcastle based company – Stephenson Coates. The main purpose of the role is to complete a wide range of accounting tasks within the office.
Stephenson Coates are a chartered accountancy practice based in the Newcastle Business Park, off Scotswood Road. They offer a range of financial services to include; business start–ups, business plans, management accounts, audits, VAT returns and personal & corporate tax.
Possible Start Date: 14/09/2017
Programme Duration: 12 Months

Duties to include:
• Using computerised accountancy software – Sage and Pegasus
• Bookkeeping tasks
• VAT returns
• Audit work
• Accounts preparation for sole traders & partnerships
• Will eventually deal with client queries over the telephone
• Associated administrative duties as required
Applicants should have good IT skills and be competent using Microsoft Excel. Should also be able to work off own initiative and have excellent communication skills as well as the desire to develop a career in the accountancy profession. Probationary period applies / full training will be given

Ongoing training and development will be provided and the opportunity for duties to progress.
NVQ level 3 in accountancy and possible functional skills.
Although the new Accounting standard is at level 3 – the course will initially cover the level 2 content
