Description
This is an exciting opportunity to work as an Apprentice Support Worker for Adults with learning disabilities at Brixworth Nursery Farm.<br><br>You will be required to:<ul><li> Carry out key working duties</li><li> To offer opportunity of experience and promote equality for all service users. </li><li> To complete, file and communicate relevant and accurate records. </li><li> To maintain the confidentiality of information. </li><li> To provide and assist the clients in all aspects of personal care needs as required by their condition, culture and wishes, with sensitivity, respect and dignity. </li><li> To promote the wellbeing and general health of clients and help create surroundings in which the clients feel secure. </li><li> To participate in medication administration and recording as required. </li><li> Where appropriate, to assist and support in the involvement and the contact with parents, relatives and friends of the clients. </li><li> To contribute to the individual and general development of the clients. </li><li> To encourage and support the personal, social, occupational and leisure development through the service and the community. </li><li> To help in the management of complex or sensitive issues, e.g. challenging behaviour, personal relationships. </li><li> Where necessary, by offering support, advice and encouragement to clients. To know and work within relevant legislation, e.g. Health & Safety at Work Act. </li><li> When required, to support and escort clients within the community. </li><li> To participate in annual appraisals and identify personal training needs and goals. </li><li> To participate and prepare for the coaching and supervision processes with Brixworth Nursery Farm. </li><li> To help maintain a healthy and hygienic environment by undertaking relevant household duties. </li><li> To carry out appropriate administrative duties. </li><li> To undertake such other duties as appropriate to your responsibilities, grade and ability. </li><li> Any other reasonable tasks requested from time to time. </li></ul>Your learning and Development will be supported by your own Vocational Learning Advisor who will guide you throughout your Apprenticeship. To have a caring nature, to be a good listener and very understanding of others, to be a team player with good communication skills.
No specific qualifications required as full training is to be provided. However basic Maths and English skills are desirable.
As an Apprentice you will be included on a Health & Social Care Qualification, this will involve a Vocational Learning Advisor who will visit you on a regular basis, to deliver the training and coach the Apprentice and will be observing whilst you work.
You need to be a confident, caring person who has a genuine interest in caring for others. You will need to be patient, able to give Clients the support they need, open minded, good communicator.
If the apprenticeship is successfully completed there may be an opportunity for permanent employment. Initially £4.00 per hour, however you will be fast tracked within three months to the level 2 rate of £8.00 per hour subject to aptitude and abilities.
