Detailed Job Description

A fantastic opportunity to join a Professional Event Rider based near Paddock Wood in Kent. Owning her own competition yard from which she regularly competes during the eventing season both here in the UK and abroad, her most noted successes include winning Punchestown CCI3* and she is one of the only rides to have won at 1 Star, 2 Star and 3 Star levels.

She rides for Ireland and was chosen as reserve for the Irish Olympic squad at the Beijing Olympics and also represented Ireland at the European Championships.

General duties to include;

  • Grooming at National and International events throughout the event season
  • A variety of horses from backing/breaking stages through to advanced eventers
  • Excellent training offered with fantastic facilities
  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Paddock maintenance
  • Schooling
  • Riding
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

To be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English

Skills required

Previous experience with horses would be beneficial

Personal Qualities

Successful candidate will be ambitious to succeed within the equine industry and willing to work hard to gain the benefits and opportunities available

Future prospects

Opportunity to progress on a Level 3 Diploma, or a permanent position.

Training provided

Full training through the Equine Apprenticeship supported by Haddon Training.

Accommodation may be available. It may be possible to bring your own horse.
