Detailed Job Description

As a Heavy Vehicle Apprentice you will learn how to maintain and service a variety of HGV vehicles whilst gaining an understanding of the law governing Operator Licensed companies. Your Motor Mechanics Apprenticeship will start at level 2 and you will be expected to progress onto Level 3.

Your working week will be Monday to Friday.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

Ideally you should have 5 GCSE’s A to C grade, however, this is not essential as you will be assessed on Maths and English when you attend for interview at Paragon Skills

  • Confident with good communication skills
  • Good time management skills

Training provided

We have the ENERGY & EXPERIENCE to give you the EDGE in kick starting your career. Our Learning and Development Coaches will deliver outstanding teaching and learning to help ENERGISE you to complete your apprenticeship training and leave you confident to EXECUTE tasks to the highest standard.

With this apprenticeship you will complete the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
  • Technical Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Principles
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English & ICT
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning & Thinking Skills

All training will be delivered by a combination of work place training & assessment as well as attending one day a week at our Bournemouth campus. You will be mentored by experienced members of staff while developing your skills to a nationally recognised industry standard.

The current Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW) is £3.50 per hour from the 1st April 2017. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. PLEASE NOTE – candidates who meet the employer’s criteria will be put forward for interview as soon as possible, this means that the vacancy could be filled before the advertised closing date.
