Passionate about working with cars? Good Value Cars are looking to employ an enthusiastic, outgoing apprentice to join their busy and expanding garage for their motor technician apprenticeship. You’ll learn all aspects of vehicle diagnostics & repair.

The business provides a supply of quality used vehicles ,Furthermore we offer excellent advice and experience on vehicles and vehicle maintenance. Our friendly staff will go the extra mile to guarantee that you receive the advice you need. This is the reason why many of our customers keep coming back to us, and the business has developed by word of mouth.

We also offer repair services, maintenance and mechanical repairs also to keep your car on the road, we deal in all makes and models and this is an ideal environment for an apprentice to learn their trade. With the majority of our staff going through an apprenticeship programme then we understand the ups and downs within this business. But this is a great place to work with a variety of jobs available day in day out to widen your experience.

Detailed Job Description

While completing a L2 Motor Technician Apprenticeship, you will learn about:

  • Basic Servicing
  • Minor repairs
  • Valeting
  • Fast fit (brake pads,Exhaust)
  • Clutches
  • Cambelt
  • General Repairs
  • MOT work

The working week is Monday-Friday and some Saturdays.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

Basic Mechanical Knowledge, interest or hobby perhaps on that side.

GCSE -English,Maths and possible science C grade plus.

Future prospects

Further training is a possibility and also the potential to complete a level 3 motor technician apprenticeship and then if suitable for a full time position.

With this apprenticeship you will complete the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
  • Technical Certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Principles
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English & ICT
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning & Thinking Skills

All training will be delivered by a combination of work place training & assessment and attending one day a week at our Bournemouth campus. You will be mentored by experienced members of staff while developing your skills to a nationally recognised industry standard.

The current Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW) is £3.50 per hour from the 1st April 2017. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. PLEASE NOTE – candidates who meet the employer’s criteria will be put forward for interview as soon as possible, this means that the vacancy could be filled before the advertised closing date.
