A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Business Administration apprentice in a fast paced, solicitors & estate agents. We’re looking for customer focused, motivated candidates who are eager to learn the business.

Clifford Smith & Buchanan was founded in 1928 by Mr. Clifford Smith. During the war, Clifford served with great distinction as a squadron leader based in Burma and was mentioned in despatches. We are very proud of our roots and we retain his name to this day! The Practice has been offering quality and professional legal advice throughout the many years since it was first established. The Partners are members of the Law Society and all aspects of the management of the Practice fall under Law Society Rules as regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. As required by the Rules the Practice carries authorised Professional Indemnity Insurance thereby providing a further absolute guarantee of security to its clients.

Detailed Job Description

After an initial induction period the successful candidate will be expected to carry out a variety of duties such as liaising with customers, stock knowledge, booking viewings and valuations, negotiating offers and handling sales progression. This will be alongside dealing with messages, filing, telephone calls and other office duties including administration and updating the applicant list. The candidate will be speaking with a variety of customers whilst also updating with solicitors, surveyors, contractors etc. There will also be viewings at properties and mail outs so access to a vehicle and a full driving license is essential. Full training will be given.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

· Ideally with A-C grades in English, Maths and IT or equivalent. However this is not essential.

Skills required

The ability to speak confidently to customers both on the phone and face to face in a friendly, professional and positive manner. Concise writing skills and expertise in software programs to efficiently produce documents and reports. Be able to act on initiative, identify opportunities & be proactive in putting forward ideas & solutions, coupled with the determination to get things done in a timely fashion whilst keeping clear records and colleagues updated.

  • Professional and able to represent the company positively always.
  • Confidence – this role will involve speaking with external suppliers and customers.
  • Adaptable – able to pick up new tasks quickly and see jobs through to completion.
  • Outgoing – can quickly fit into the current team.
  • The ability to work as an individual as well as part of a team and be respectful to team members at all times.
  • Be an excellent communicator at all levels, via telephone and face-to-face. Be able to use their own initiative.

Future prospects

This could lead to a full-time permanent position upon completion of the apprenticeship programme.

Additional Information

Training provided

Learner will receive training 1 day a week at Nelson and Colne College to work towards an apprenticeship. On the job training will be provided by the employer.
