A leading Advocacy charity are seeking an apprentice to provide administration support to the team who are based across all localities within the organisation.

Choices Advocacy started in 1994 working with adults with a learning disability in South West Hampshire and Southampton. In 2012 Connect Advocacy joined Choices advocacy adding Fareham, Gosport and Portsmouth and in 2014 Choices Advocacy started working in the East Hampshire Area. Choices Advocacy is a founding member of the Hampshire Advocacy Regional Group (HARG) and works to promote advocacy practice of the highest standard. Choices Advocacy leads training and development for HARG Training a City and Guilds accredited centre delivering the Independent Advocacy Diploma. All Choices advocates are provided with training.

Detailed Job Description

The role will consist of but not be limited to:

  • Communicate effectively with people who have a learning disability, volunteers and professionals from other agencies.
  • The role will also include supporting the work of the Administration Officer and the Finance Officer, such tasks will include maintaining sickness records, travel claims and personnel files.
  • Further opportunities could include the maintenance of the website, developing leaflets, presentations etc.
  • Admin duties - include answering the telephone, taking messages, responding to emails, opening the post and dealing with general enquiries.

A*-C grades GCSE or equivalent

Skills required

Due to the support we offer at Choices the applicant will need to have good communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with people who have a learning disability, volunteers and professionals from other agencies.

Additional Information

Training provided

You will work towards 4 mandatory units and choose optional units. These will be selected by both you and the employer making sure the units are relevant to the job you are undertaking. Level 2 Diploma in Business and Administration and Functional Skills include:-Maths Level 1, English Level 1 and ICT Level 1. An Employment Rights & Responsibilities workbook will be completed. Personal Learning and development.

Mon-Fri. 9am to 5pm. 4.30pm on Friday. Free tea and coffee. 30 min lunch break. Close to bus stops. Free parking.
