Little Adventurers Nursery is a nursery with a difference, where children’s individual needs are at the heart of all we do; where children are encouraged to discover, explore and investigate the world around them. We are a family run nursery offering high quality childcare for children from 3 months to 5 years. Our aim is to be considered as an extension to each of our little one’s own family and our ethos is to provide a home from home environment where children are cherished as they learn and develop. We are passionate about Early Years education and strive to deliver best practice throughout our setting and therefore follow a highly selective recruitment process.

If you are an enthusiastic nursery apprentice, eager to learn best practice with the potential to become a model nursery practitioner then we would love to hear from you. Little Adventurers is proud to have been chosen for a new award by Havering College in 2017 – as Apprentice Employer of the Year. We were selected as an “outstanding example in providing the support and professional environment necessary for our apprentices, enabling them to progress in their role and in their studies on the Early Years Educator apprenticeship programme.”

We know from what parents and staff tell us that we are a special kind of nursery, who believe in having adventures with our children every day. Winning the award from Havering College is wonderful recognition of how we look after our apprentices and help them grow in their roles. We have been delighted to support 4 apprentices (since opening in 2015) from the college and we are now looking for our a 5th Apprentice to begin (or continue) their learning journey with us.

We are looking for someone with a passion for working with children from babies to 5 years who are willing to study through to achieve a Level 3 qualification in Early Years and Childcare. Candidates should possess good communication skills with the ability to liaise with other staff, children and parents/carers.

In return, we offer an excellent working environment as we are a bespoke and individual nursery setting. Our nursery manager and deputy manager have a wealth of experience and knowledge within early years and are able to provide excellent support to individuals with the right attitude and willingness to succeed.

Our nursery believes that each child’s unique needs must always be at the heart of our practice. We have designed a nursery with a homely and family environment and want children to feel loved and supported as they grow. We know that if children feel emotionally secure, they will thrive in their learning and become confident little people ready for the next stage of their education. Children learn through play and we are passionate about providing stimulating and fun adventures ensuring children have a happy and successful time with us.

As a nursery, we continue to strive to be outstanding throughout all areas of our nursery operations, to further develop for the benefit of each of our little one’s learning and wellbeing. We offer high quality childcare and early education to all our children so that they have a rich childhood and are cherished by each one of us. We offer optimum nutrition with a menu endorsed by a professional early years nutritionist and are part of the Heathy Early Years London Project having already been awarded our Bronze Award and are now working for our Silver.

Candidates will work according to the Early Years Foundation Stage, Policies and Procedures and the Playwork Principles. They will plan activities for the children to observe, assess and record their progression.

Apprentices will be required to attend Staff Meetings and continue to progress following their Personal Development Plan identified in their staff appraisal. To undertake some cleaning and organisational tasks at the setting as instructed by their supervisor. They will also be required to carry out risk assessments as instructed by their supervisor and ongoing as play develops.

Confidentiality must be retained at all times along with working in a fully inclusive manner.

Weekly Wage: We supplement the legislative minimum rate - £129.50 - £196.10

Working Week: Monday – Friday 37 hrs per week shifts covering 7.30am – 6.30pm

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

GCSE’s in English Language and Maths and grade D (3) or above or functional skills at level 1.

Skills required

- Ability and motivation to study and gain childcare qualifications to Level 3.

- Experience of caring for or working with children aged 0 – 5 in a voluntary or paid capacity.

- Positive approach to learning.

- Willingness to work in a team and take direction.

- Good listening skills.

- Numerical skills

- Good time management skills

- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to keep others informed

Future prospects

On successful completion of your apprenticeship you may be given the opportunity to stay on as a permanent member of staff.
