Grey Gables is a Residential and Respite Care Home for the elderly. There is forty rooms with communal areas enclosed in private tranquil gardens. Grey Gables works in partnership with Community services to give a high standard of care to a variety of needs if required by the resident. Residents are encouraged to be individuals and to maintain their independence. A wide range of activities and treatments are available within the home setting.

Detailed Job Description

The Successful applicant will support our existing team to care for our 30 residents. We work with vulnerable older adults who require personal care and support on a daily basis. You will be working towards your Level 2 Health and Social Care and will receive full support from the team to achieve your qualification.

The job role is varied but main duties and responsibilities will include:

Working as a professional you will be working as part of a team. You will be learning supported in the working environment.

Building and development of relationships with the residents in your care, colleagues, external agencies and families.

To assist and enable residents to look after their physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and social needs.

To deliver high quality care promoting dignity and respect to residents.

To be aware of residents care plans and learn how to complete accurately and report changes to senior members of staff.

Encouragement of freedom of choice assisting clients to maintain their individual routines.

To assist with activities which may involve interaction with outside agencies.

To be aware of local policies and procedures and to attend mandatory and specific training as required by the home.

  • Follow instructions from senior members of staff
  • Personal care to service-users when required
  • Carrying out activities
  • Adhere to all CQC regulations and company policies and procedures
  • Following personalised plans if care
  • Meet all service-users choices and preferences

Skills required

Good Communication Skills, Team Player, Patient, Ability to work under own initiative.

Enthusiastic, Patient, Kind Natured and able to work effectively to planned activites and set work practices.

Future prospects

We are looking to a permanent member of staff to join our team and therefore when you have successfully completed your Apprenticeship program, there will be an opportunity of permanent employment.

35Hrs (To include one day a week at college) Monday–Sunday Apprentice will be required to work five out of seven shifts on a rota basis including weekends. ( 7.45am – 2.30pm ) ( 1.45pm – 9.00pm ).
