Detailed Job Description

We are currently seeking a therapeutic support worker apprentice to work within our residential home, supporting looked after children. The role and responsibilities are: · To maintain the development of positive childcare practice in keeping with the aims and objectives of A&T Home. · To provide a safe, caring, warm, nurturing and supportive environment for the children living with us. · To carry out duties in line with A&T Home policies and procedures and comply with company rules, policies and procedures of the establishment and to respond to emergencies, which may arise within the home. · To support children in maintaining contact with friends and family members. · To promote and encourage learning by children living at A&T Home and to work with the children on educational activities within the home and in the community. · To develop a responsible attitude with children with regard to the fabric, furnishings, equipment, supplies and services in/or to the home and to support them in all domestic aspects of both their own personal space and communal areas of the establishment. · To accompany the young people on outdoor activities when required. · To carry out household duties, shopping, cleaning, cooking and generally ensuring that the household and garden areas are maintained in a safe manner. · This position involves some manual handling duties e.g. loading and unloading washing machine, carrying shopping etc. · To accept responsibility for monies as may be required in carrying out necessary duties. · To maintain a regular system of recording in connection with each young person, to be involved in the implementation of care plans and to assist in the provisions of reports when required. · To undertake administrative duties as required e.g. (log books, daily records, accident book, incident book, incident sheets etc.) · To be a member of a team of workers and be involved in the planning and organisation of the placement which is the total living environment for each young person living within the home · To provide a positive working role model for other colleagues and the children living in the home. · Any other duties as may be required and directed by senior staff. Personal Specification · Willingness to undertake training and personal development · Understanding of the needs of children, particularly those in care. · Ability to work within a team and lone work · Ability to engage and motivate young people · Ability to work shifts on a rota basis and complete sleep in’s · Applicants must be at least 20 years of age · Driving Licence desirable. · DBS must be obtained for this role.
