An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to take on the position of Apprentice Chef working along side the Head Chef As a member of the kitchen team the successful candidate will learn all aspects of working within a busy kitchen under the supervision of the experienced kitchen staff.
Key Responsibilities of the Role include:
• Preparing and cooking menu to a high standard as per Company specification
• Maintaining food hygiene and health
• Working effectively as part of a hospitality team
•Learning basic culinary skills in all sections of the kitchen
• Kitchen documentation
• Other duties as the request of the staff
•Ensure the smooth running of the kitchen during service
•Be aware of and follow emergency, safety and first aid procedures
•You will be working in a demanding environment completing practical tasks to meet the needs of business and customer.
As an Apprentice you will be included on a Level 2 Commis Chef qualification. Your Qualification will be delivered by an Award Winning Training Provider who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve a Vocational Learning Advisor coming to visit you on a regular basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.

Level 2 Hospitality Apprenticeship
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices’ chosen career route, each standards has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English. Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.
Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.
The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for food and will want to grow and learn all aspects of cooking and the hospitality industry, reliable, trustworthy and who is presentable and outgoing, with an ability to follow instructions.
If the correct ethic and enthusiasm is shown throughout the qualification, this could lead to a full time position within the business, working your way through the ranks and with a pay increase. Initial wage is negotiable and will be reviewed after 3 months.
