Detailed Job Description
You will be trained on a wide range of duties, and work as part of a team, to ensure our three championship golf courses are maintained and retain a high standard of presentation and playability.
Location: Little Brickhill, Milton Keynes MK17 9LJ – due to our remote location transport will be required.
To work as part of a team maintaining the course to a high standard of presentation and playability on a daily basis. To take an active role learning the profession through on the job and formal training. To maintain health and safety working practices including consideration for other members of staff and guests. To communicate with relevant persons all course information
Tasks and responsibilities:
To assist in ensuring the golf course is properly laid out and prepared for members and guests to the Club and that a very high standard of presentation is maintained.
To work with the Assistant Greenkeepers, Greenkeepers, Deputy Head and Head Greenkeeper to develop the skills and experience required for the position of Assistant Greenkeeper.
To assist in turf maintenance including mowing, irrigating and control of pests and disease on the greens in order to achieve the level of operation and understanding required of the role.
To assist in the maintenance of bunkers course furniture and holes.
In conjunction with the Head GreenKeeper understand which plant machinery is used for specific tasks.
To be fully trained prior to using any machinery and to use it in the correct manner whilst complying with Health & Safety regulations.
To attend training courses which are identified as being necessary for the performance of the role e.g. NVQ Level 1 and 2.
To be fully conversant with the Estate Handbook and supporting policies, including Health & Safety legislation, personal presentation and fire and emergency procedures.
To comply with any reasonable instruction issued by your Manager.
Changes in the business may occasionally require alterations in this job description and these will be agreed with the post holder as appropriate.
Monday to Friday, with weekend overtime when required. Your normal hours of work are 39 hours per week. Your hours are exclusive of ½ hour breaks which are unpaid. Summer start hours are 6 a.m. April to September. Winter start hours are 7.00 am October to March. Please note you will be required to start earlier at key tournament times.
