A nursery practitioner plays an important role in assisting in the care and education of young children. You will be planning and organising both fun and educational activities whilst taking care of children’s personal care needs.

We always go the extra mile to ensure that all of our children feel safe, secure, happy and fulfilled. We run a full day care centre which caters for children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years of age, as well as wrap around care hubs for children of primary school age. Our vision is to be inclusive, dynamic and flexible in providing a quality childcare service to the local and wider community.

Detailed Job Description

Duties to include:

Planning and supervision of activities like arts and crafts

Reading stories and providing activities to develop language skills

Feeding and changing of babies and young children

Observing children and taking notes to use in reports

Qualifications required

Grade C or above in English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent)

Skills required

Consistency, dedication, and the will to achieve

Personal Qualities

Applicants should have a desire to develop and enhance their child care skills whilst working in a supportive nursery setting. This role is ideal for anybody who has a genuine passion for working with children and that is keen to learn and progress in their own professional development. The successful applicant will be a positive role model and enthusiastic individual.

Future prospects

During the Intermediate Apprenticeship in childcare you will have access to excellent training/development opportunities within the role, with the opportunity to progress on the advanced apprenticeship in childcare.

Additional Information

Training provided

Level 2 NVQ- Your apprenticeship will last for 12 months (depending on the provision in which you are employed). You will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship. As you progress through your apprenticeship your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career in childcare.
