The Learning Tree 2 is a converted house situated on two floors. The nursery has been established since 2000 and the nursery team strive create a warm and homely environment.

The children at nursery are in separate age groups, this allows the children to access a wide range of equipment and resources that are age and stage appropriate for their development.

We have a separate outdoor play area for the children to explore and discover this consists of a vegetable patch, decking for story time and picnics, no mow grass and tarmac.

The nursery has a ‘Strong linked partnership’ with the local Sure Start Centre, has regular trips out to the park, library and other local attractions.

Detailed Job Description

The Learning Tree 2 is a converted house situated on two floors. The nursery has been established since 2000 and the nursery team strive create a warm and homely environment.

The nursery has 4 areas, a Baby room, a Toddler room an area for the 2-3 years, an area for 3-5 years (Pre-school). Using the different areas in the nursery allows the children to access a wide range of equipment that is age and stage appropriate.

The large outdoor play area consists of a digging area, climbing frames, grass area and growing area.

Day to day duties will include;

  • Provide opportunities for children to develop individually through play
  • Provide opportunities for children to develop socially through play
  • Take part in play activities with children
  • Bring play opportunities to an end effectively
  • Contribute to positive relationships with children
  • Encourage children’s positive behaviour
  • Respond positively to children’s unwanted behaviour
  • Develop positive relationships with parents and carers
  • Provide and plan a play environment which meets children’s needs
  • Promote positive images through the play environment

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

A* – C grades in Maths and English GCSE or equivalent qualifications

Skills required

  • Experience in a nursery, school or playgroup is essential
  • Confident communication skills
  • Good team working skills
  • Able to follow daily routines
  • Able to adhere to health and safety and safeguarding policies

  • Enthusiastic and energetic
  • Caring, mature and responsible
  • Hardworking, reliable and trustworthy
  • Committed to apprenticeship
  • Keen to learn

Future prospects

Upon completion of Intermediate Children and Young People’s Workforce qualification, you may be offered the opportunity to progress onto an Advanced Early Years Educator qualification with Interserve Learning and Employment.

Additional Information

Training provided

  • Level 2 Certificate for Children and Young People’s Workforce
  • Your daily duties and responsibilities will be provided by your employer, The Learning Tree Nursery. The successful apprentice will be enrolled onto an Intermediate Children and Young People’s Workforce qualification, this will be provided by The Learning Tree Nursery’s dedicated training provider, Interserve Learning and Employment.
