Description

Fantastic opportunity for a keen Apprentice Groom to join our hardworking team. You will be keen to develop your skills in a friendly, small and professional Stud located in Somerset.

We provide world class stallions to the UK for professional and amateur breeders alike. Alongside the stud, there are a small number of full livery boxes available. The atmosphere is friendly yet with excellent facilities including 6 horse walker and 60m * 20m arena, complete with full flood lighting.

We offer a quality service to all our clients and we work closely with our clients and vets.

General duties to include;

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Paddock maintenance
  • Schooling
  • Riding (possibly but must be able to ride to high standard)
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

Some previous equine experience will be beneficial
Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English
Full training supported by Haddon Training
Successful candidate will be hard working, enthusiastic and keen to succeed in the equine industry. An interest in breeding would also be beneficial for this role.
Possibility of Level 3 Horse Care Apprenticeship on completion of Level 2
Possibility of accommodation (TBC)
