Detailed Job Description

The successful candidate will initially be placed in our steelstock area to learn how to cut steel, identify by size and shape all sections of steel, gradually they will migrate to our fabrication department where they will be taught how to weld, drill, shape, use the guillotine and press. Initially the key responsibility will be to learn how to work in a safe manner, and gradually learn the skills of a fabricator. Day to day contacts will be with the apprentices workmates, supervisor, general manager, sales staff etc.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

A minimum of 3 GCSE’s will be required, to include Maths, English and Science – minimum grade C or above

Skills required

Good communication, numerical, people and social skills.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for somebody who is a team player, willing to learn, with a positive can do attitude.

Future prospects

The intention is to train the successful candidate and for that person to be here for the long term, hopefully to give them a secure future. Opportunities for advancement can arise, but are not guaranteed.
