WE ARE A FULL TIME DAY NURSERY BASED IN A VICTORIAN HOUSE IN DOGSTHORPE. STEPPING STONES IS AN ESTABLISED NURSERY WITH OUTSTANDING JUDGEMENT FROM OFSTED. ALL OUR STAFF PRESENTLY ARE LEVEL 3,4, AND 5. WE CATER FROM 6 MONTHS TO 4 YEARS FULL TIME OR PART DAYS . OPEN FROM 8.00AM – 5.45 MONDAY – FRIDAY STAFF WORK ON A SHIFT SYSTEM.

Detailed Job Description

You will be responsible for supporting staff with the care of children with regard to their physical, emotional and educational needs whilst working effectively as part of a team. Duties will include:

  • Adhering to the policies & procedures and ensuring all children are offered equal opportunities in relation to the equality and diversity act
  • Working with the Nursery Nurse on planning and preparation of activities, to meet children’s individual needs
  • Liaising with parents ensuring effective communication within the nursery
  • Keeping and maintaining of children’s development records and observations
  • Positive management of children’s behaviour
  • Preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the playrooms and equipment
  • Providing a good role model for children and helping them fit into the nursery
  • Keeping and updating accident, incident and risk assessment records
  • Supervision of meals and mealtimes and where appropriate
  • Nappy changing and assisting with toileting
  • Assisting with meal times, food preparation and feeding

You will also to be required to help with the general housekeeping and tidying as well as completion of any necessary paperwork. You will also be expected to attend staff meetings/training as required

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths

Childcare Level 2 NVQ or equivalent

Skills required

  • To have a strong commitment to providing a high standard of quality care for the children
  • To be able to take direction from senior staff members
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
