The role of the apprentice is to support the children at Tania's Tots to flourish in a rich learning environment. You will be responsible for supporting the children to develop and learn to their maximum potential.

We cater for 3 month - 10 year old children, including breakfast and after school club. We make full use of a wide range of fantastic equipment, furniture and fittings, all carefully chosen to meet the needs of the early years. We have fantastic indoor and outdoor facilities, we like to go to the local beach and parks…AND SO MUCH MORE, so the children get plenty of fresh air, whatever the weather! Our mission is ”To provide high quality childcare and education. To be a place where learning is stimulating and takes place through play; where children are kept safe, respected and cherished as individuals, and treated with kindness, patience and courtesy; where children acquire skills for life and find learning and education fun.”

Detailed Job Description

Duties include -

To support children’s holistic development - physically, socially, emotionally & intellectually.

To adhere to all policies & procedures

To actively support safeguarding

To deliver the highest standard of learning & development

To support the day to day running of the setting, setting up for meal times, cleaning & support individual personal routines

To contribute towards planning and activities plans and documentation for individual children

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

  • Previous childcare experience and qualifications are prefered but not a necessity.

Skills required

  • Communicate within a team
  • Accept instructions and guidance from colleagues
  • Able to remain calm with children in a variety of situations
  • Be able to adhere to all policies and procedures in the setting
  • Produce documents and reports to meet the standards for operating the setting to support the curriculum of the setting

  • Keen to train - no previous experience required all training needs will be met

Future prospects

On completion of the 12 month apprenticeship program, depending on performance, you may be offered a full time role at the Nursery.

This is a physically demanding job working with children aged 3 months - 10 years, which will be both indoors and outdoors. This role will include additonal responsibilities like the cleaning of the setting as this is completed by all staff. The setting provides breakfast and afterschool club aswell as day care.
