Little Raccoons Day Nursery is a day nursery for young children aged between 3 months and 5 years, based in Pinner. The nursery is open 51 weeks of the year. Job Role: The candidate must be able to demonstrate dedication and passion when working with children of all ages and be providing good standards of care & education. The nursery apprentice must learn to understand and respect the need for consistency of care for children, to include assistance in providing a safe, supportive & caring environment. They will be involved in developing and delivering a high quality, stimulating, creative and welcoming environment for the children within the nursery. They will be a good communicator with children, parents and other staff, being polite and courteous at all times. Maintain confidentiality about all issues relating to children and their families; your own and other staff members issues & any other management or operational issues. This is a role that would enable the successful candidate to make a real impact on the nursery and to be able to build their career and grow throughout our nursery. Little Raccoons is well designed and equipped to the highest standards, with painstaking consideration given to the outside space to allow your children to develop and grow.

Detailed Job Description

Key Tasks:

  • To be a proactive member of a staff team who provide a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment in which babies and young children are supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential. You will receive support and training throughout your employment.
  • To offer full and practical support and assistance in the day to day running of the nursery.
  • To be able to assist in the process of activity planning, child observation and development records on a regular basis when requested by Management.
  • To follow all routines, duties, timetables, rotas, record keeping activities and any other reasonable duty as requested by the Nursery Manager.
  • To be able to learn and become confident with the requirements of the “Early Years Foundation Stage” and ensure that your practice meets and aims to exceed the requirements. To also ensure equality amongst children and staff is observed.
  • To ensure clean and hygienic standards are maintained at all times. This includes the daily cleaning rotas, nappy changing, meal times & other nursery/housekeeping duties.
  • To ensure all company policies, procedures and frameworks are fully understood & adhered to at all times. To also maintain OFSTED standards and legal requirements.
  • To attend regular supervision and training as agreed with the Nursery Manager, which may be outside of work hours. Have a willingness to continue their own professional development.

Qualifications required

A-C grades in Maths and English language.

Skills required

Confident, Friendly, bubbly, approachable and willing to learn.

Personal Qualities

Willing to learn and thrives to work over and above their job role.

Future prospects

Work to complete their L3 in childcare, to become a qualified member of staff and work towards team leader and room leader roles.

Additional Information

Training provided

All learning will be done in the workplace; you may need to attend the occasional workshop in College. If you need to complete Functional Skills, you will be required to attend College once a week for at least the first 3 months. Apprentices without Maths or English at level 1 must achieve this level and take the test for level 2 Maths and English before the end of the apprenticeship.

Shifts will be emailed to staff one week before. All staff must be open to work globally between all nurseries.
