Detailed Job Description

Working alongside the Divisional Accounting Manager the key responsibilities and deliverables for the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand and contribute to the production of monthly/quarterly/annual management and financial accounts.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and relevant financial information to business stakeholders.
  • Understand and contribute to the production of forecasts and budgets in line with company wide timetables
  • Understand and ensure integrity of accounting data.
  • Understand and contribute to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.

Working hours are 8.30am - 5pm.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

5 GCSE’s grade C or above including Maths & English

Skills required

  • The ideal candidate will be highly organised and have the capability to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong team player with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good written English and the ability to build effective working relations are essential for this role.
  • Ideally, candidates will be IT literate and have some knowledge of the industry.

Personal Qualities

  • The individual must have a keen eye for detail and be diligent and conscientious in all aspects of their duties.
  • Individuals will also need to be self-motivated, with initiative and have a proactive approach to completing tasks.

Training provided

AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Level - This qualification will prepare apprentices for junior and entry level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration - covering areas such as bookkeeping, basic costing principles and using accounting software.

They will learn finance, accountancy, business and communications skills. There will be other skills they will learn but usually this is set out by the employer but usually include:

  • Accounts preparation
  • Prepare accounts for sole traders and partnerships
  • Cost and revenue
  • Professional ethics
  • Indirect tax
  • Spreadsheet software
