Do you like to work with children and watch them grow, we offer a home child care setting but on a larger scale than most childminders, which has the benefit of allowing the children to socialise and be more personal than a nursery.

I am a childminder with quite a few years’ experience, I enjoy seeing the children grow, flourish, having fun and finding new ways to explore. We have a largish house with a playroom leading into the kitchen an enclosed garden with play area. We are situated close to Prae Wood School near Waitrose which we pick up after school children from. We are a small team of 5 assistants who work different days and hours to fit in with family and school life.

Detailed Job Description

The children are absolutely lovely and we all get hugs and cuddles every day.

Main responsibilities

· To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed within the setting

· To give support to the childminder and childcare assistants within the setting.

· To implement children’s individual daily routines whilst considering the evolving larger routine within the setting

· To maintain clean, tidy and visually pleasing environment within the setting

Main duties

· To provide stimulating activities for all children that are age and stage appropriate

· Anticipating the needs of children and giving physical, emotional, intellectual support as appropriate

· Attend team information sessions and individual briefing sessions which will coincide with the hours

· Support all staff and participate in working towards being an effective and efficient team member

· Undertake certain domestic jobs within the setting, e.g. Preparation of breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner, as well as cleaning of equipment and areas.

· Organise resources and make imaginative use of these resources

· Take part in relevant training that is essential within the job, e.g. Child protection, food hygiene, first aid

· Work alongside the manager and team to ensure that the ethos within the setting is fulfilled

· Adhering to policies and procedures of Hanna’s childcare and compliance with the children act, health and safety legislation and within the guidelines of Ofsted and national standards

· Maintain confidentiality at all times

· Assist in recording and keeping developmental records and observations

· Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by a lead practitioner

Working week: Monday to Thursday Opening hours: 7.30 am to 6pm Shift / rota to suit everyone preferences

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

A minimum of A*-D (9-3) in Maths and English GCSE or Functional Skills equivalent

Skills required

Someone with strong Communication skills, good spoken and written English

Personal Qualities

Enjoying working with children, active, fit and enjoys being outdoors.

Future prospects

Job can lead to setting up your own childminding business, becoming a Nanny or a nursery assistant.

Additional Information

Training provided

Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship in Childcare

Hourly rate depends on experience and age but will start from £4.25 per hour. You must check how you are going to travel to the workplace, including mileage, expense and time. Your qualification results will be checked. Childminding is a physically demanding role so you will need to be fit and able to keep going all day to keep up with the children’s needs.
